FAQ
frequently asked questions
how do we get going?
If you are local in Central Oregon you can schedule an in person appointment at my shop to drop off your repair or get fitted for an alteration. If you are outside of Central Oregon you can mail in your repair or hem here. If you would like a price quote before committing to mailing your repair you can send pictures of the worn area/s to wearingdenim@gmail.com.
HOW MUCH ARE REPAIRS?
Repair prices are very dependent on the size and location of the hole or worn area. Some areas require the garment to be partially taken apart to be properly repaired. In those cases the price can reflect the amount of garment deconstruction and reconstruction more than the size of the hole. I do not like repairing on top of seams, because it will cause problems if more repairs are needed in the future. Here is a pricing guide for repairs and alterations. Every garment is different in regard to construction and wear so prices will vary. If you would like a price quote before committing to mailing your repair you can send pictures of the worn area/s to wearingdenim@gmail.com.
WHY ARE YOUR REPAIRS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER ALTERATION SHOPS?
First off, denim repairs is what I specialize in. I have a specific machine that is made for darning or repairing denim. The way I repair denim is more time consuming than what most alteration shops offer. I don’t use heavy denim patches to repair holes, because I have found that it leads to tears around the repaired area. What I do is re-weave thread into the hole or worn area. I also take the time to take apart the garment when needed so I can repair each section of the garment separately, so that the garment remains rebuildable in the future.
